Money & Exchange
The official currency is the Colombian Peso (COP). For your convenience, we recommend making purchases in the local currency. If you wish to exchange money, we suggest using authorized exchange offices outside the airport. Preferably, wait until you arrive in Medellín, where you can get a more favorable conversion rate during your stay.
We want you to enjoy Medellín to the fullest and with complete peace of mind. Here are some local tips for your visit.
Discretion:
Medellín is a city to enjoy and show your style, but in public areas we recommend staying low-key. Leave valuable jewelry and flashy watches in your hotel safe, and use your phone discreetly when you’re out.
Recommended Areas:
Medellín has lively and safe neighborhoods like El Poblado, Laureles, and Envigado. If you plan to visit other areas or go on tours (such as Comuna 13), we suggest doing so in groups or with certified guides during daylight hours.
Personal Belongings:
Like in any tourist destination, always keep your personal items within view. In restaurants or cafés, don’t hang your bag on the back of your chair or leave your phone on the table, especially in open-air areas
Connectivity and Security:
We suggest keeping your accommodation address handy at all times and sharing your real-time location with someone you trust if you’re traveling on your own. If you have any questions, hotel staff will always be happy to assist you.
Help & Local Contacts:
If you need any assistance, hotel staff and the Tourist Police in areas such as Parque Lleras or Provenza are always ready to help.
